SYNOPSIS: BraggRadio is a medium for advertisers to reach the Fort Bragg
military community. To reach the demographic, BraggRadio broadcasts a
pro-Armed Services internet radio station that specifically covers news and
information about Fort Bragg, the surrounding communities, and events that
impact their lives and the lives of their families.
Local live events such as play by play of intramural sporting events
or even parades are streamed live as well as archived for podcasting on
demand. “Remote” broadcasts from
special events of interest to the Fort Bragg military community are also a
component of BraggRadio. The audio
stream itself consists of a series of newscasts, features, press releases,
PSA’s, plus lifestyle and consumer information.
Like a traditional all-news radio station, “Give us 20 minutes and
we’ll give you the world.”
DEMOGRAPHIC: Fort Bragg is the
nation’s largest Army base ranked by population.
In Fiscal Year 2005, there were
47,849 active-duty military personnel at Fort Bragg (4,661 officers, 1,193
warrant officers, 36,685 enlisted, and 5,310 active AR and NG).
There are 11,432 family members of active duty personnel residing
on-post and many more residing off-post.
Additionally, 8,142 civilian employees and contractors are based at
Fort Bragg.
DESIGN: Much like a media player
“skin” or module (such as a “weather bug”), BraggRadio has the look and feel of a piece of military hardware while
still being very easy to navigate.
Eventually we will add additional skins that mimic a tank console, a fighter
cockpit, a ship’s helm, and so on.
Local weather, news, event & base information, and many other items are
available for podcasting on demand.
The skin is also capable of being minimized on the computer screen for ease
of use. A “mute” button allows
listeners to better control the stream without shutting down the web page
itself.
CONTENT: Features include Fort
Bragg News, Army News, the Pentagon Report, Weather on the fives, National News, Sports & Entertainment Report,
and rotating features including MWR Time, 82d Airborne Division Report,
USASOC Report, Reservist News, Financial News, Womack Medical Minute,
Dependents’ News, USO Brief, etc.
DATABASE: BraggRadio has an area
where people can sign up and receive special bulletins even when they are not listening.
